The stress response is the healthy reaction of the body to help you overcome an overwhelming circumstance. The body releases adrenalin so you can do more than what you can normally do. This momentarily gives you almost superhuman strength, focus, speed, and thinking skills to get you through the ordeal. The ordeal, however, could be just too much work in the office. When you perceive something like that as a threat, your body responds accordingly. When you are in that stressful situation again and again, it becomes a different story.
When you are staying in unpleasant circumstances, your body may not be able to keep up. It becomes chronic stress, and this time, corticosteroids are released. Corticosteroids are beneficial hormones. Drugs with that function like corticosteroids are being used to treat various conditions. As with any drug, or hormone for that matter, anything in excess is never a good idea.
Too long in the stressful situation means too much corticosteroids being pumped into you. Too much corticosteroid can bring about a lot of unwanted side effects. With that said, too much stress can lead to a variety of physical problems, with heart disease being the most common. Stress may also lead to too much anxiety, which can lead to panic and other mental disorders. Because of the dangers of stress, management of it is of utmost importance. Once you find yourself ridden with stress symptoms, take action immediately. Stress symptoms are categorized into the physical and the mental. Physical symptoms of stress in men are not much different that what is observed in women. These symptoms include upset stomach, headaches, and other body pains. Mental symptoms are what make the difference.
Irritability is common in men as it is with women. Men, however, are more likely to take the path to anger while women are more likely to take the road towards depression. It is believed that women are more emotional than men. While men are also affected with what’s going on around them, they tend to bottle it up. That’s why when it comes out, it comes out with a bang. If you are a man and you are experiencing passionate expressions of anger, it can be due to stress.
Other symptoms of stress that neither man nor woman is exempted from is the loss of concentration or focus, getting easily confused or panicky, and getting tired of everything. A working male individual that starts showing less desire to work through absences and tardiness may be a sign that he is starting to get stressed out. There seems to be no limit to the number of symptoms that stress may display. Each person has his or her own character, and can react differently to stress. The symptoms mentioned above, however, are the common ones. If you find yourself having those symptoms, start managing your stress.
